Staff of local NGO's who need to be trained to facilitate self-assessment in communities.
Five day training course during which local staff are trained to build up skills in facilitation techniques such as Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Appreciative Inquiry. The training courses starts with knowledge building (education) regarding the self assessment techniques and general issues like facilitation techniques, how to communicate with and create respect among villagers, etc. Thereafter the participants practice the techniques in role plays with each other. During the third and fourth day the participants practice the facilitation techniques in communities (real life) and produce community self-assessment reports based on the outcome of the self assessments by the communities. During the fifth day the participants present their findings and discuss with each other about the things learned, the challenges ahead, difficulties encountered etc. They also make a plan for the facilitation of self-assessments in communities for the coming six months.
