Summary

MONITOR is a management information tool for planning and monitoring of project activities, monitoring of realized output, storage of the monitoring data, and structuring the data into user friendly overviews of what has been achieved.

Planning - the user defines the products to be realized and determines activity and product indicators that form a basis for the monitoring forms.

Monitoring - monitoring and progress data are entered in Excel.

Overviews - a variety of overviews is directly produced by the Excel part of the tool. The Excel files can also be uploaded in a SPSS file which has been programmed to generate a multitude of additional overviews for managers, fieldworkers, beneficiaries, authorities, donors, researchers, etc. For instance generated management overviews present per product type the numbers realized, their quality and utilization, the quality of the product activities, and the expenditures to date. The data can also be connected to financial data to be able to compare actual expenditures against financial planning and against actual project achievements and planning. Other overviews present average scores per indicator, numbers of products realized per location, scores per fieldworker, etc.

MONITOR has two Excel files (Numbers and QUA) and two SPSS files (also called Numbers and QUA). The tool comes together with a detailed and user friendly manual. Learning how to work with the files is easy. The QUA Excel file and the manual can be downloaded here.
