Water storage and recharge

Water storage and recharge are important subjects. Water storage in tanks is of course important as people (or crops, in case tanks are used in irrigation systems) need water constantly. Therefore even if water points have no or insufficient water to cover the water demand, or if a water system is temporarily out of function, a storage tank prevents that people (or crops) will be short of water. Water recharge is also about storage but storing water in the underground. With local climates getting drier in many countries and water tables subsequently dropping this subject becomes more and more important. But water tables also often drop during the dry season. Groundwater recharge techniques help to recharge the groundwater by effectively bringing runoff rainwater into the ground. We focus on relatively small but very low-cost water storage and recharge techniques that are especially useful in/for rural water supply systems.
